Woman Cell

University Grants Commission (UGC) recommends the measures for ensuring the safety of women and programs for gender sensitization on campuses. According to the task force appointed by UGC, the recommendations include the need for setting up Women’s Development Cell and Anti-Sexual Harassment Cell at colleges. Women cell aims at empowering and orienting women to recognize their true potential and to help them attain their own stand in a competing world. Its goal is the overall development in all spheres of their life. The targeted group includes all UG students, women from nearby community and primary and secondary level students of nearby schools.

Main objectives include: –

• To enhance self-esteem and self confidence among women students and staff
• To increase awareness of women related social issues, health, employment and gender related matters
• To realize role of women in building up of a healthy society
• Sensitize students on serious gender issues
• Generate awareness of burning social issues for ensuring holistic education of students.
• Educate, empower and devise preventive measures for the prevention of gender bias and sexual harassment of students.
• To impart knowledge on legal rights of women.
• To conduct guest lectures by eminent people from different fields.
• To organize workshops on personality development

Activities: –

• Organizing special lectures by women achievers and interaction with students
• Workshops related to self-employment of girl students
• Encouragement in group activities by organizing events like food festival, vegetable cultivation etc
