About NCC:

The National Cadet Corps is the Indian military cadet corps with its head Quarters at New Delhi. It is open to school and college students on voluntary basis. The National Cadet Corps in India is a voluntary organization which recruits cadets from high schools, colleges and Universities all over India. The Cadets are given basic military training in small arms and parades. The officers and cadets have no liability for active military service once they complete their course but are given preference over normal candidates during selections based on the achievements in the corps.

INTRODUCTION OF NCC

National Cadet Corps in the College plays a credible role in shaping students’ character by instilling the values of patriotism, service, discipline and hard work. The main objective of the NCC is to inculcate the spirit of ‘My Service to My Motherland’. The Cadets enrolled are given institutional training and can participate in adventure activities, community development programmes, national and annual training camps, youth exchange programmes, sports, social service, cultural activities, and disaster management and relief. The NCC motivates the students to join the armed forces and serve the nation. The NCC provides equal opportunity to boys and girls to join NCC in all its activities, including regular parades and camps, community development and social service programmes, and training for assisting civil defence authorities in rescue work in war zones and natural calamities and traffic control. The students are encouraged to join the NCC and thereby enhance their career potential and take advantage of preferential consideration in defence and civil recruitment.

Objectives of N.C.C Unit:

The N.C.C. department organizes the training activities as per the direction of the N.C.C Headquarters to achieve the following objectives.

NCC was established as a second line of defence, therefore it mostly stressed on military training, particularly Weapon training and Drill. The area of activities and getting knowledge are:

  • General: – History, Aims, Motto, NCC Song, Administration of NCC.
  • Introduction to Services.
  • Drill.
  • Weapon Training: – Rifle, SLR, LMG, Stan Gun, 2” Mortar, Grenade, Pistol, Firing in NCC.
  • Map Reading.
  • Field Craft.
  • Army Tactics and skills.
  • Anatomy and Physiology of Human Body.
  • Hygiene and sanitation.
  • First Aid.
  • Civil Defence.
  • Self Defence.
  • Yoga.
  • Military History.
  • Adventure Training.
  • Citizen, Administration, Moral, Human resource Management, Leader, Leadership Traits.

Aims of NCC

NCC aims to groom students into models of discipline and develop in them character, character, leadership, leadership, secular outlook, outlook, spirit of advance and selfless service. service. NCC transforms them into trained and motivated human resource that will lead the nation in all walks of life and also motivates them to join the armed forces and serve the nation.   “I do hereby solemnly promise that I will serve my motherland most truly and loyally and that, I will abide by the rules and regulations of the National Cadet Crops. Further under the command and control of my commanding officer I will participate in every camp most sincerely and wholeheartedly”.

   We the cadet of the national cadet corps, do solemnly pledge that we shall always uphold the unity of India. We resolve to be disciplined and responsible citizen of our nation. We shall undertake positive community service in the spirit of selflessness and concern for our fellow beings.

Establishment and Growth of N.C.C:

R.T.E.S Arts, Science and Commerce College, NCC was established during year 1967-68, The innovative for NCC training commenced from the very inception for S.D. Boys and SW Girls for Army wing.

Available infrastructure of the Department:

  1. Office: Office is located in R.T.E.S. College building occupying 375 Sq.ft. areas
  2. Store: There is one room with a space about 600 sq.ft. Area for storage of uniforms, training materials and the rest  rooms for instructions staff.
  3. Training: One junior Commissioned officer, to non-Staff commissioned officers are authorized strength of the trains team of the department.
  4. Training: The college has a very vast playground used for Area squad spot and also drill practice area. Tree garden shaded areas are used for battle craft training.
  5. Training: Charts, Land looks, Cadet journals, cadet dairy, lesson Material plans are available for training purpose, Target are locally proposed and supplied for weapon trains sports materials are supplied by the college.
  6. Command: Training Unit is command by Lt. M A Khan the and control Company Commander. Administrative support is given by the Principal of the College, Battalion Commanders’ periodical visits and annual inspection will ensure quality aspect and the effective training and canted of the activities.
  7. Time: Training consists of 120 periods of 40 minute during schedule the academic year. Parades are conducted on last Sunday of July and normally closes on 26th January of the next year. Training is 20 Parades. On each Sunday it commences at 7:30am and continues up to 12:00pm noon. In the 15th August and 26th January parades are devoted for training purpose.

The Impact of Training and contribution to social cause:

  1. National Integration: Students of different Caste creed and social background come together for training. They live together and join for common food. This interaction leads to an emotional interaction among boys and girls.
  2. The training impacted has the impact development of leadership still along with organizing and human skill useful to lead the group.
  3. It has been that trained candidates have past time attitude with recognition and respect for service.
  4. Snake bites, shocks, burns, drawing are common dangers N.C.C cadets are trained in First and also difference for protection.
  5. Training has the impact of positive contribution to the development of Individual personality, courage, self-conferences, adventure spirit, Secular out lode, self-less service are generally found in trained cadets.
  6. It has resulted in creating awareness for allegiance and sanitation.
  7. Trekking, camps, mountaineering courses have created Nature Awareness. Training has helped in the promotion of disciplined and organized manpower available in the times of need.
  8. It has improved defence knowledge of young generation particularly, map reading, field craft and military history.
  9. Development of sense of discipline, patriotic feeling habit of hard working and duty consciousness.

ADVANTAGES OF JOINING NCC

  • NCC is second line of defence. NCC cadets are made to work along with armed force during the war. Being enrolled with NCC, students are directly associated with Ministry of Defence. At the end of each year cadets are entitled to get allowance.
  • NCC training helps student to develop qualities like Discipline, Social Services, Team Spirit, and Leadership.
  • NCC training camps held at different places expose cadets to Historical, Industrial places and various other Social important centres. Owing students to broaden their horizon and develop national spirit and ambition to do creative work.
  • NCC cadets are attached with Army units every year so that they get acquainted with the Army life.
  • NCC cadets are also trained for Parachuting, Paragliding and Mountaineering.
  • Every year under Youth Exchange Program selected cadets get the opportunities to visit foreign countries.
  • 32 seats are reserved per course in the IMA for the cadets who have passed NCC ‘C’ certificate examination. NCC cadets scoring 50% aggregate marks in graduation with minimum ‘B’grade in ‘C’ certificate examination are eligible for Short Service Commission (SSC) NCC special entry scheme without qualifying CDS written examination. They only have to appear for the SSB interview.
  • NCC trained students are given priority in recruitment in Central Reserve Force and B.S.F. etc.
  • Central and State Govt. jobs as well as many Industries/Corporate sectors give priority for NCC cadets.
