Laboratories

Physics Lab

Physics Two well-equipped laboratories are available to benefit acquiring good experimental skills. There are going to be plans always underway to upgrade the facilities in these labs. Laboratory is equipped with the latest requisite apparatus and advanced measuring instruments to conduct experiments. Five set of apparatus have been provided for each experiment. The Department considers practical work as a very important part of the curriculum. The Physics labs will present, you the students, with the opportunity to gain insight into some of the basic principles of physics. The lab exercises are setup to allow you to gather data, analyze the data using the principles of the assigned topic, to obtain quantified results, and then for you to evaluate the results to determine if the principles are sound. It is our hope that these labs will aid you to gain a better understanding of the covered material.

The Physics Laboratory aim to train students in laboratory skills such as:

  • Assembling and operating apparatus
  • Following and recording experimental procedures
  • Taking and interpreting data
  • Determination of experimental uncertainties
  • Presenting the results of an experiment in a written report.

Chemistry Lab

The department of Chemistry has an excellent teaching programme. At the B.Sc. level, the department offers laboratory and theory core courses covering basic concepts in various sub-disciplines of chemistry. We have three chemistry laboratories (physical, inorganic, organic) are fully equipped with balances, electrical, water baths, centrifuge machines, conductometers, teaching aids etc. The department is adequately equipped with the latest instruments known and required to carry out modern day chemistry. The students are provided a comprehensive practical exposure to the various instrumental techniques required for their research. A team of highly qualified faculty and the backbone of the Department.

Botany Lab

Botany Laboratory is well equipped with compound and Dissecting microscopes enough for each student to individually use it in class. In addition there are research microscopes for 15,000 X magnification to observe detail structure of microorganisms. Besides this the laboratory has anemometer, psychrometer, luxmeter, Soil Thermometer, pH meter, spectrophotometer, potometer, computer, laminar air-flow, autoclave hi-speed centrifuge and microtome for specific experiments for undergraduate level. Botany laboratory is also has around 1000 specimens of plant and fossils, and charts to understand structure of various biomolecules and plants respectively used regularly in practical classes.

Zoology Lab

The college has a spacious equipped Zoology laboratory to conduct practicals in basic Zoology. Moreover, the laboratory has all the necessary infrastructure and equipments to conduct practicals in the field of Molecular Biology, Ecology, Bioinformatics etc. In addition to the laboratory there is a large Museum well stocked with more than 1000 invertebrate and vertebrate specimens.

Language Lab

Modern language labs play a vital role in 21st century language learning, and bear little resemblance to the archaic labs of the post-World War II era. In fact, for students who are part of the video game / internet / cell phone generation, modern language labs play a major role in grabbing student attention and keeping students motivated to learn.

What is a Language Lab?

  • In general, for any subject matter, a lab differs from a regular classroom by providing students and teachers with the tools they need to facilitate hands-on practice with the subject materials. This differentiation applies to physics labs, to chemistry labs, and to language labs.
  • What does hands-on practice mean for language learning? ln a language lab, students do not play a passive role.
  • Students listen to (and/or watch) multimedia materials in which native speakers of the target language are talking in an authentic context.
  • Students record themselves and listen to themselves speaking the target language.
  • Students converse with their fellow students in pairs or in groups using the target language.
  • Language labs facilitate a broad range of activities that involve students in reading, writing, listening, and speaking the target language.

COMPUTER LAB

RTES Degree College has 02 computer labs with over 40 computer systems. We have the most modern, state of the art computer labs. Computer to student ratio is managed to the comfort level of the student. The systems are supported with high-speed network, laser printers. Latest versions of software’s, internet facility and online demos help in constant up-gradation of the students. The expertise of the faculty guides the students to use various softwares.

Facilities available under Central Computing Facility Centre are as follows:

  • Computing Facility
  • Internet Connectivity
  • Campus Wide Network

GEOGRAPHY LAB

The Department of Geography has an excellent teaching programme. At the UG level, the department offers Laboratory and theory courses covering basic concept in various Sub-discipline of Geography (Physical, Human). The department is adequately equipped with the latest instruments known and required to carry out modern Geography. A team of highly qualified faculty of the department.
