About the Physics Department The Department of Physics, R.T.E.Society’s Arts Science and Commerce Degree College, Ranebennur, Haveri District, Karnataka, India was established in 1967. Under the proper guidance of distinguished Late. Professor C M Hunsimarad, retired professor and HOD of Physics, after Prof. D V Pandurangi, retired professor served as HOD and Principal and currently faculty strength of the department is Prof. C A Harihar, Associate Professor & HOD of Physics & H.G.Basavaraj, Dr.Madhukumar R, Assistant Professor served till today. Department of Physics came into existence as a minor subject in B.Sc Course initially. Later in 2005 University Introduced B.Sc as Three optional equal importance starts development in the Physical Science. The objective to promote Science culture and growth of active research works in the physical world for the welfare of mankind. For the complete realization of hidden potentials in the field of physical science, the Department offers presently teaching programmes one of the subjects in B. Sc Course and  department introduce B.Sc. PMCs also in spite of B.Sc. PCM Frequent interactions with the Physics teachers working in the affiliated colleges, holding of intensive workshops for them, holding of seminars of regional & national character, periodical review and up gradation of teaching curriculum, introduction of innovative schemes of Physics education are some of the other basic objectives of the department. KEY FEATURES Contemporary topics like Nanotechnology have been introduced in the undergraduate courses The department is equipped with state-of-art UG labs, and a well-equipped laboratory to cater the all UG programs Workshops, symposium  and training sessions are arranged to enable students to learn and interact with scientists and researchers from all around the country on different specialised topics in physics. Mission: To create the awareness about the fundamental concepts and competency by providing the essential scientific knowledge and skills, so as to be able to become competent and successful in the chosen profession.
